Robeco Foundation

Helping children to reach their full potential

Robeco has a tradition of supporting sustainable growth through investment, engagement, and active ownership. Committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Foundation aligns social initiatives with business values, focusing on No Poverty (SDG 1), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10). It supports local programs in Robeco’s active regions to help disadvantaged children and promote equal opportunities through education.

Our first initiative

The Rotterdam Digital Skills Program was an in-house initiative that kickstarted the Robeco Foundation, supporting schools in disadvantaged neighborhoods in Rotterdam with digital hardware and software.

Our current activities

The Foundation supports development initiatives that can make a real impact on local communities. Either as one-off financial support, or in the form of a long-term partnership.
Examples of recently supported initiatives:

  • Go Foundation (Australia): this nation-wide foundation provides scholarships to students from indigenous communities from primary school to university age.

  • The Girls’ Network (UK): this London-based organization is on a mission to ensure that no girl’s future is limited by her background, gender or parental income.

  • Fundación Raíces (Spain): this Madrid-based foundation aims to provide care to children, youths and families throughout Spain who are struggling with social and personal difficulties, marginalization and social exclusion.

Partnerships

The Foundation has long term partnerships with various non-profit organizations:

  • SpaceBuzz (Netherlands): a VR educational program that teaches children about nature, technology and society. Just like astronauts, they get to see ‘from space’ how incredibly beautiful, but also how vulnerable our Earth is.

  • Kinderstiftung (Switzerland): The Foundation for Children in Switzerland supports and promotes disadvantaged children and young people throughout the country.

  • Team Toekomst (Netherlands): focuses on creating equal opportunities for children in Delfshaven, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Rotterdam.

  • Room to Read (South Africa): a non-profit focused on girls’ education and children’s literacy in Asia and Africa.
