Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI)
What is PRI? PRI stands for Principles for Responsible Investment and is a global initiative supported by the United Nations. It is also referred to as UN PRI.
The United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) initiative is an international network of investors working together to put the group’s six Principles for Responsible Investment into practice. Its goal is to understand the implications of sustainability for investors and support signatories to incorporate these issues into their investment decision-making and ownership practices.
In implementing the Principles, the signatories contribute to the development of a more sustainable global financial system. They have a duty to act in the best long-term interests of their beneficiaries. In this fiduciary role, they believe that environmental, social, and corporate governance issues can affect the performance of investment portfolios. They also recognize that applying these Principles may better align investors with the broader objectives of society.
